The Cumberland County Board of Elections wishes to remind citizens of the upcoming deadline to register to vote in the 2023 Municipal Elections in Cumberland County.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Board of Elections wishes to remind citizens of the upcoming deadline to register to vote in the 2023 Municipal Elections in Cumberland County.
The Municipal Election is Nov. 7, 2023 for all Cumberland County municipalities. The deadline to register to vote in the Municipal Election is Friday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m.
A Primary Election will be held Oct. 10, 2023, for the City of Fayetteville prior to the Municipal Election. The deadline to register to vote in the Primary Election is this Friday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m.
Citizens may also register to vote and vote on the same day during the One-Stop Early Voting periods. One-Stop early voting for the Primary Election begins Thursday, Sept. 21 and ends Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. One-Stop Early Voting for the Municipal Election begins Thursday, Oct. 19 and ends Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m.
Under state law, the regular voter registration deadline is 25 days before an election.
To be eligible to vote in a municipal election, you must be a resident of the municipality. The upcoming municipal elections are for the following cities and towns and sanitary district in Cumberland County:
City of Fayetteville, Town of Eastover, Eastover Sanitary District, Town of Falcon, Town of Godwin, Town of Hope Mills, Town of Linden, Town of Spring Lake, Town of Stedman and Town of Wade.

The Cumberland County Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Board of Elections is in the E. Newton Smith Center at 227 Fountainhead Lane in Fayetteville.
To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older and a legal resident of Cumberland County for 30 days before the date of the next election.
All voters will be required to show photo identification in order to vote.
Under federal and state law, if you apply to register to vote and do not provide a valid driver’s license number or the last four digits of your Social Security number on your application, you must enclose a copy of one of the following documents with your application:
- A current and valid photo ID
- A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address.
