Veronica B. Jones was elected to the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners as an at-large representative in 2022 for a four-year term. Commissioner Jones' 2022 election comprised 83% of election votes; she received the highest voter support.
Immediately following her winning election, community supporters and several grassroot organizations began to refer to Commissioner Jones as "The People's Commissioner". Commissioner Jones was unanimously elected Vice Chairwoman of the Commissioners Board on December 2, 2024. Her current term expires in December 2026.
A public servant with over 25 years of service, Commissioner Jones is most known for her strong advocacy and work in health and wellness (mental health awareness) advocacy for disabled children and adults, affordable housing, education/fixing school facilities, advocacy for disabled veterans/military families, safe water/infrastructure and public safety.

Ms. Jones is a graduate of Seventy First High School in Fayetteville, NC. She values learning and immediately after graduation, she pursued higher education. During college she enjoyed her studies in Psychology and Communications. She is an alumna of Hardbarger Christian College (school of Business), Liberty University and Indiana Wesleyan Christian University.
As a second generation family business owner Veronica owns and operates one non-profit and two successful businesses, JGF www.jonesglobalfoundation.org, Jones Global Consulting Group, and Green Ivy Incorporation (with office locations in NC, SC, NY.) Currently she is the CEO/President of Jones Global Foundation.
Ms. Jones became a full-time entrepreneur in 2016, which is the same year she retired from working for Corporate America with over 25 years career experience.
During her career, she held various executive positions such as VP of Branding and Strategy, Executive Director of Program Development, Director of Family Services, VP of Mental Health Education Dept, QHMP Director, and CEO of Communications/Public Relations. She enjoyed her career working for major advanced organizations and companies in the field of mental health, communications and social justice. Vice Chairwoman Jones has received several awards and recognition for her public service and professional achievements.
Ms. Jones was born at Fort Campbell Kentucky. Veronica values being raised in a military family. She appreciates the benefits she received, traveling abroad to several states, countries and enjoyed the opportunity of living in Europe for several years with her family. Ms. Jones considers herself blessed to have been exposed to cultural diversity through her military upbringing.
Her father, Coley Jones Jr., retired from the U.S. As a Chief Warrant Officer IV. Her mother, the late Ruby L. Jones was an educator (retired civil service) and international bestselling children's author.
Ms. Jones credits her parents modeling a lifestyle of extraordinary public service for her commitment to continue the family legacy of community service. She has one sister, Anastasia, one niece, Syadia, one nephew, Seville. During her personal time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is a member of Beauty Spot Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC.
