Intake and Reclaim

The intake\reclaim section, also known as "Drop Off" is for residents who have lost a pet or are surrendering an animal to Cumberland County Animal Services.

Reclaim of A Pet

A valid form of identification must be presented to reclaim a pet. If available, proof of spay\neuter, rabies vaccination and pet license information is needed for reclaim. All animals found running at large must be spayed/neutered before being reclaimed from Animal Services.

Fees are associated with the reclaim of pets, however, fees are not discussed over the phone.  Pet owners should come in and discuss fees in person as fees vary based upon documentation provided.

Drop Off of an Animal

No fees are associated with the Drop off of any animal. Animal Services should be used as a last resort when surrendering family pets; the outcome of any animal cannot be guaranteed. Owner-surrendered animals may be euthanized immediately if the shelter is full.

We do not accept strays from other counties or states. Owners do not think to look outside of their county or state for their lost pet, which greatly decreases the chance of the pet getting back to its family.

We do not accept owner surrenders from residents of other counties.

Owner-claimed animals must have a rabies vaccination, pet license and be spayed/neutered before they are returned to their owner. Owners are also required to pay a per day boarding fee.

Per Day Boarding Fee:

$30 for first day of impoundment and $10 per day thereafter

Rabies Vaccine - $10

Privilege License (Altered Animal) - $7

Privilege License (Non-Altered Animal) - $25
