The Cumberland County Department of Public Health will formally move into Phase 1b, Group 1 of the COVID-19 Vaccination Plan on Friday, Jan. 8.

A limited supply of vaccine, approximately 300 doses, will be available on Friday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crown Expo Center, 1960 Coliseum Dr., for individuals in Phase 1a and Phase 1b, Group 1, which is anyone 75 years of age and older, regardless of health conditions. Phase 1a is for health care workers at high risk for exposure and staff and residents at long-term care facilities.

Vaccine is still limited at this point and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Friday. Individuals will NOT need an appointment.

Those seeking the vaccine will be screened prior to entering the vaccination area. No one younger than 75 will be vaccinated with the exception of those in Phase 1a.

Vaccinations will be available in a drive-through setting within the Expo Center with entry off the West VIP parking lot. A walk-in option will be available at the front of the Expo Center.

Individuals should expect long lines and come prepared to wait. Visit the County’s vaccine website for additional instructions.

Additional vaccination dates will be Tuesday, Jan. 12; Wednesday, Jan. 13; and Friday, Jan. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., while supplies last each day. No clinics will be held at the Expo Center on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Individuals not in Phase 1a or Phase 1b, Group 1 are asked not to seek vaccinations at this time.

The Health Department has been vaccinating individuals in Phase 1a in a closed point of distribution center at the facility. The Health Department coordinated with Cape Fear Valley Health to assist with overflow from the medical center’s limited supply clinic held this morning.
