For Immediate Release
November 9, 2001
In memory of the victims who died in the recent terrorist attacks and in honor of those who protect and defend our country, North Carolina Cooperative Extension Offices across the state are kicking off their "Trees of Strength" Campaign.
Locally, a tree-planting ceremony is scheduled for Veteran's Day, which is Monday, November 12, 2001, at 12 noon at the Fayetteville Fire Station Number One, located on Person Street. The program is being sponsored by the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Office and its Master Gardener volunteers.
The goal is to assist interested groups in planting a "Tree of Strength" at every fire station, school, police station and government building in the state.
For more information on the "Trees of Strength" Program, contact Master Gardner Volunteer George Quigley at 321-6882 or Public Information Director Tonya Harris-Council at 437-1921.
