Public Invited To Dental Education Program In February

Jan 28, 2020

To celebrate February as National Children’s Dental Health Month, the Cumberland County Department of Public Health will present a free dental education program “Get a Gold Medal Smile” in February to help parents and children get started and continue with proper dental care.

Get a Gold Medal Smile will provide information about when children should have their first dental visit and the importance of regular dental examinations. Other topics covered will include preventing early childhood tooth decay, the change from baby teeth to permanent teeth, proper brushing, stopping and preventing thumb sucking, dental sealants, choosing the right mouth protector for active children and adolescents, and tobacco prevention examinations.

“Teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and a healthy smile is important to a child’s self-esteem,” said Johnnie Butterfield, Regional Public Health Dental Hygienist. “With proper care, a balanced diet and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong.”

The program will be held in the third-floor auditorium of the Health Department, located at 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville. You do not need an appointment.

You can drop by during these times and participate in the Get a Gold Medal Smile program:
