County Courthouse Will Remain Closed Friday

Aug 08, 2019

The Cumberland County Courthouse will remain closed on Friday, Aug. 9. All other County buildings and offices will operate on normal schedules, including the Law Enforcement Center which is next door.

An electrical problem forced the County to evacuate the building and close it on Thursday morning as Facilities Management employees and electrical contractors worked to determine the problem.

One of the two busways that feed commercial power throughout the building failed and caused damage to the section that feeds power to three of the six floors of the structure. The repair will not be completed in time for a Friday opening.

We will provide updates on the status for Monday. Monitor social media and the County’s website.

For court system cases, the Clerk of Court will mail a new notice of hearing to the address that is in the file. Individuals may also check nccourts.org  under the “Court Calendars” tab 48 hours after the courthouse reopens for new court dates.
