Parenting Classes
This is a six-week series available at no charge to the community. This class is
offered to parents wanting to enhance their parenting skills. Topics addressed include:
developmental stages, self-esteem, child safety, child health, nutrition, and discipline.
- Classes meet from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.
- Experienced Instructors.
- Fun activities are planned for the children.

Participants must attend all
sessions in a series to receive a certificate.

Prepared Childbirth Classes
Prepared Childbirth Education classes are a very important part of your birth education.
It will assist you in learning the signs of labor, when to call your doctor or midwife
and when to go to the hospital or birth center. You will be taught relaxation techniques,
comfort measures, breathing, and positions for labor and birth. Come learn all the
options that are available to you to assist in laboring your "own" way. Cumberland
County Department of Public Health welcomes you.
- Tuesdays 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted)
- 12 couples MAX for each class
series
- Participants should be at least
30 weeks

Participants are encouraged to attend
all sessions in a series. Class dates for 2012 are:
- Series 1: January 10, January 17, January 24, January 31
- Series 2: March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
- Series 3: May 8, May 15, May 22, May 29
- Series 4: August 7, August 14, August 21, August 28
- Series 5: November 6, November 13, November 20, November 27
- Series 6: November 27, December 4, December 11, December 18 (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
OB Classes
This class is a requirement for clients that will receive their prenatal care at
the Health Department. The class covers the importance of prenatal care, nutrition,
and risks during pregnancy. Clients will attend this class on their first visit.
The class is held every Tuesday from 8:00am-10:00am. Call 433-3640/3646 for more
information.
