Cumberland County Sheriff's Office

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is responsible for enforcing the law and preserving the peace in an effort to improve the quality of life for the citizens and visitors to the County. Within the Sheriff's Office is the Bureau of Narcotics, School of Law Enforcement and Community Policing.

In 1998, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office became the second in the state and the 50th in the nation to receive national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies. In addition, the Sheriff's Office has added to its growing list of awards the Governor's Crime Prevention Community Award, primarily for its successful community policing program. The Sheriff's Office is also responsible for operating the 568-bed, 250,000-square-foot jail, which was completed in January 2003.
