Cumberland Reports 189 Total Positive Cases

Apr 24, 2020
The Department of Public Health reports there are 189 total positive COVID-19 cases involving Cumberland County residents, an increase of 16 from Thursday.

“Health department staff continue to work diligently to conduct case investigations for each positive case in Cumberland County. Contact tracing is a key public health strategy to identify and notify close contacts of positive cases so they can be quarantined,” said Health Director Dr. Jennifer Green.

The Public Health Department is monitoring the patients and identifying close contacts who may be affected. Staff will notify any contacts who fall under the guidelines for additional monitoring and testing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines a “close contact” as being within 6 feet for 10 minutes or more.

Aggregate data on the cases will be updated Monday, April 27, on the County’s dashboard at co.cumberland.nc.us/covid19.
