Board of Health Reviews FY 2019-2020 Annual Goals Draft

The Cumberland County Board of Health reviewed its draft Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Annual Goals that were developed during their annual Board Retreat in March. 

The draft annual goals are:

  • Develop departmental marketing strategies
  • Reduce vaping incidence
  • Prevent teen pregnancy
  • Reduce STD rate
  • Promote oral health
  • Combat the opioid epidemic. 

The board also heard a presentation about services provided by Cumberland HealthNET, which provides services in the Adult Health Clinic in partnership with the Department of Public Health and Stedman-Wade Health Services. Cumberland HealthNET provides primary and preventive care services at the Public Health Department on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

In other business, the board:

  • Heard an update from the Health Director Search Committee and Medical Director Committee; Interviews for the next Health Director will take place in July. Interviews for the Medical Director were held earlier this month. 
  • Heard an update on Medicaid Transformation.
  • Was briefed on the Grand Re-Opening of the Baby Store that occurred on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Received departmental financial and monthly Health Department clinic reports.


The next Board of Health meeting is June 18. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the third floor Board Room of the Department of Public Health located at 1235 Ramsey St, Fayetteville. For more information, call 910-433-3705.
