Cumberland Hires New Solid Waste Management Director

County Manager Amy Cannon has hired Amanda Bader as Cumberland County’s new Solid Waste Management Director. Bader has more than 23 years of experience, including nine years in her current position as the County Engineer and Solid Waste Director for Harnett County. Bader will start Jan. 2, 2019.

Bader holds three degrees from North Carolina State University – a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering.

Her professional experience also includes engineering consultant work with a Raleigh-based firm on solid waste and water and sewer projects and as a water resources engineer for Johnston County Public Utilities.

“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Bader to the Cumberland County team. She has the technical background, professional experience and the leadership skills necessary to lead a large operation, as well as a vision for developing a long-term plan for solid waste services for the county,” Cannon said.
