Oct 09, 2018

The “Remember My Name” candlelight vigil to remember victims of domestic violence has been postponed until Oct. 18 at 5:15 p.m. due to impending inclement weather from Hurricane Michael. It will be held on the steps of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse, 117 Dick St. The event was originally scheduled for Oct. 11. The annual vigil is held to memorialize victims of domestic violence homicides and raise public awareness about domestic violence.

Remember My Name will be presented by Cumberland County Family Court, the CARE Center Family Violence Program, Rape Crisis of Cumberland County, Army Community Services, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Legal Aid of North Carolina, Fayetteville Police Department and the Hope Mills Police Department. The names of victims who have died as a result of family violence over the past year in North Carolina will be read aloud at the vigil.
