County Starts Mosquito Spraying on Monday

Sep 28, 2018

Cumberland County will begin mosquito control spraying using trucks on Monday, Oct. 1, because of increased populations of mosquitoes caused by flooding from Hurricane Florence.

Spray times will be 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and continue from 6 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday. The chemical used is a botanical product that is highly effective for mosquito control.

The spraying will be countywide, but will not include the town of Hope Mills, which has conducted its own spraying, and Fort Bragg.

The Health Department is out of mosquito dunks as of Friday morning. A new shipment is expected on Monday.
