Youth Complete County Government Summer Program

Six youth completed the 6th annual Cumberland County 4-H Youth Government Tour on July 20. The tour was held July 16 – 20. The youth, ages 13 – 17, spent the week learning about Cumberland County Government by visiting various county facilities and departments and the N.C. Courts system. The program was sponsored by Cumberland County Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development.

 

The tour visited the Department of Public Health, Department of Social Services, Sheriff’s Training Center, Cumberland County Library, Veterans Services, Ann Street Landfill (Solid Waste Management), the Crown Complex and the N.C. Courts System.

 

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Larry Lancaster, Commissioner Glenn Adams and County Manager Amy Cannon presented certificates to the youth following presentations from Lancaster and Cannon and reports from youth about what they learned during the Youth Government Tour.

 

The 2018 Youth Government Tour participants are Fabian Horton, Tucker Samuelian, Bernnadette Slaton, Merrick Thomas, Adam White and Carson White.
