Board of Health Initiates Health Director Search

Jun 26, 2018

During its regular meeting June 19, a committee of the Board of Health provided an update to the full board on the search for a new permanent Health Director. The Board emphasized that their goal is to be transparent and engage the community in the process. An Executive Search Firm will be engaged to lead the Board through the recruitment and hiring process.

The Board heard an update on the performance of the Adult Health Clinic, which is funded in part through a Community Health Grant awarded to the Health Department. Services at the Adult Health Clinic are provided by a partnership with Stedman-Wade Health Services, Inc. and Cumberland HealthNET. Four measures are tracked quarterly by the Office of Rural Health, which funds this grant. These measures include: control of high blood pressure, control of diabetes, body mass index screening and follow up, and tobacco cessation performance.

In other discussion, Board of Health members reviewed current Board vacancies. Currently the Board has openings for an engineer, pharmacist, and registered nurse. At the end of calendar year 2018 there will be openings for the dentist and veterinarian positions. Interested county residents may apply online at
