May 18, 2018

FAYETTEVILLE – An estimated 200 residents 50 years of age and older and their caregivers attended the Cumberland County Department of Social Services Senior Health Fair May 16. Participants had the opportunity to enjoy activities, fellowship with other seniors and obtain helpful information about a variety of services and programs.

Groups, organizations and vendors representing healthcare providers, healthcare, financial institutions and government agencies providing information about various services available in the community attended. Participants also enjoyed music, dancing, fitness activities and door prizes.

The Senior Health Fair was held in observance of Older Americans Month, which is celebrated in May. The theme for this year’s observance is “Engage at Every Age.”

“I think it was successful and we received positive feedback from seniors and the vendors,” said Adult Services Section Chief Kristin Bonoyer. “We want the Department of Social Services Senior Health Fair to continue to grow and serve our community.”

The Department of Social Services is located at 1225 Ramsey St. The main phone number is 910-323-1540 and the agency can be visited online at www.ccdssnc.com.
