Important COVID-19 Booster Update:
Today, the FDA has issued emergency use authorizations (EUAs) of the Moderna and the Pfizer- COVID-19 Vaccines, authorizing updated bivalent, “fall boosters” formulations of
the vaccines for use as a single booster dose for children 5-11 years old. These “fall boosters for children ages 5-11,” are NOT yet available as a final recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) is still required. This CDC recommendation expected later next week. We will begin vaccinating with the new “fall boosters” after the CDC Director’s final recommendation and our vaccine supply has been shipped
(no earlier than September 6th). With today’s authorization, our current Moderna and Pfizer booster “monovalent” shots for individuals age 12 and older ages 5-11 will no longer be available. We will not be accepting walk-ins or appointments for booster
shots until the “fall boosters” arrive. Fall boosters are currently available for individuals 12 and older. The CDC recommends that people ages 12 years and older receive one updated (bivalent) booster if it has been at least 2 months since their last COVID-19 vaccine dose,
whether that was: - Their final primary series dose, or
- An original (monovalent) booster
People who have had more than one original (monovalent) booster are also recommended to get an updated (bivalent) booster. Individuals ages 5 and older seeking a first or second dose in their primary series of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine can continue to attend our walk-in clinic, Monday-Friday, 9am-4 PM at 1235 Ramsey Street. |
