Leadership Academy

New to our program is the Leadership Academy designed to target potential future leaders of Cumberland County.  It is a 2 year program consisting of 60 hours of professional education that will develop the key competencies needed to prepare individuals for future leadership positions. Cumberland County has partnered with UNCW Continuing and Professional Education which provides this non-credit certificate program in Leadership Development and is taught by UNCW instructors on-site at Cumberland County facilities.

Cumberland County Leadership Academy Program Objectives 

Develop leaders who: 

• Ethical in the performance of their responsibilities 
• Respond to the public in a manner that exceeds expectations 
• Implement lean methodologies in their work processes 
• Control costs by eliminating waste 
• Engage in planning to reach future objectives 
• Manage human resources 
• Respect the multitude of diversity within Cumberland County 
• Manage conflict and build organizational communication 
• Utilize budgeting and financial metrics in the decision making process
