Young Adult

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Young Adult Program provides a comprehensive, integrated mix of services to build the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for young adults ages 16-24 to participate in a productive workforce.

The service delivery approach is to guide young adults through individualized planned activities targeting educational and career pathways. The objective is to empower today’s young adults with knowledge and opportunities that will help lead to a more skilled workforce with young adults attaining higher wages and self-sufficiency.

The ICON Summer Internship Program, for Cumberland County residents between the ages of 16-24, is co-sponsored by the Cumberland County NCWorks Career Center, Cumberland County Schools, Cumberland County government, City of Fayetteville, and the Public Works Commission (PWC). Selected applicants will participate in a paid internship during the time period of June 18 - July 27, 2018.
